Our player Spotlight segments have became a staple for Gator fans to learn more about who the Gators are offering. We get and review hundreds of tapes from players seeking Gators offers, in addition to, the tape from the players with current Gators offers. We normally stick to running player interviews on the players the Gators have already offered, however we make exceptions when necessary.
Jacquez Carter, is an exception.
Jacquez Carter is a 6’1 170 QB/ATH from Palmetto Ridge High School in Naples, Florida. Carter lead the county in passing yards last season. Carter went 102/189 for 1,719 yards and 20 touchdown’s through the air last season and 1,019 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
Carter was named Player of the Year in Collier County, 1st Team All-State ATH, 1st Team All-Conference and was a participant in the Army All-American Combine and The Opening Regional.
Carter was born into a family that really loved the game of football. A lot of Carter’s family members played the game, so at the young age of five, Carter started following in their footsteps.
Carter started his Freshman year as the Quarterback for his Freshman squad at Lely High School. After completing the regular season on the Freshman team, Carter was asked to start for Lely High School’s varsity team for the Playoff’s. Carter accepted the challenge and in his first ever varsity and playoff game, lead his team to victory. This was Lely High School’s first playoff victory in years.
Watching his film, Carter has a great arm and vision at the quarterback position. I love how he keeps his head downfield when the pocket breaks down and he scrambles. Carter is a great athlete, has good speed and great ball carrying vision. He is extremely athletic and hard to bring down.
It amazes me that Carter doesn’t hold a single college offer yet.
“I don’t currently have any offers,” Carter said. “But I am definitely looking forward to receiving some offers soon.”
Carter says that the offers will come in time and he is more focused on continuing to improve himself and his game each and every day.
“I would love to have some offer from schools like Florida, FSU and Louisville,” Carter said. “I believe if I continue perfecting my craft they will come.”
The thing I hear the most about Carter from his fans and peers is that when things get bad they look to Carter to take over the game or make a play.
While Carter doesn’t currently hold any offers, he does still think about what will make him choose a certain school over another, when the offers come in.
“Distance isn’t really important to me, I am more concerned with having a good relationship with the coaches,” Carter said.
Carter said he would like to ultimately play QB at the next level but is open to anything that the Coaches need.
Carter is a great athlete and even better individual. He currently holds a 3.3 GPA and is very humble and kind. He is a guy any team would be lucky to have.
We wish Carter the best of luck on his recruitment this season!
