The Florida Gators open up the NCAA Tournament as a four seed in Orlando, Florida today at 3:10 p.m. against 13th seeded, East Tennessee State. Even know the Gators are the much higher seed, the Gators seem to be picked by a lot of experts as a potential upset.

The Gators have limped into the Tournament losing three of their last four games. Albeit to Kentucky and twice against a good Vanderbilt team. The loss of center John Egbunu has without a doubt hurt the Gators in this stretch but that’s not the only reason they are limping into the postseason.

Senior guard Kasey Hill has been turning the ball over at a much higher rate, 6th man of the year Canyon Barry has not been scoring as efficiently, including two outings with 0 points. Devin Robinson has been shooting inconsistently through the stretch.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Like previously stated the Gators lost at Kentucky, which is arguably the hardest place to play in the league. It’s worth nothing that the Gators held a lead on Kentucky before losing as well. They also lost twice two Vanderbilt in Nashville, after leading both of those games as well.

It’s not like the Gators are losing to terrible opponents, in fact, the Gators are one of just five teams to not lose to a team not playing in the NCAA Tournament. The Gators have the tools, when playing together, to make a run in this tournament. It will be interesting to see how this team comes together playing in front of what is expected to be a largely Pro-Florida crowd in Orlando.
