Our player Spotlight segments have became a staple for Gator fans to learn more about who the Gators are offering. We get and review hundreds of tape of players seeking Gators offers, on top of the players with current Gators offers available. We normally stick to running player interviews on the players the Gators have already offered, however we make exceptions when necessary.
Rocky Jacques-Louis, is that exception.
Jacques-Louis is a 6’3 205 lb defensive end from Dunbar High School in Fort Myers, Fl. Jacques-Louis was nominated first team all-state FL defensive team and was a finalist for South West Florida defensive player of the year.
Jacques-Louis racked up 95 tackles, 26 sacks, 17 TFL, 35 QB hurries, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery last year. Jacques-Louis is a QB’s worst nightmare. He bursts off the ball with great speed and gets off blocks with relative ease. His drive to get to the quarterback makes him a threat every play, and his film shows that.
Jacques-Louis isn’t just a leader on the field, he is also a leader off the field. Not only does Jacques-Louis play football but he also has a great GPA and has a job.
“I have a 3.9 GPA right now while playing football and working,” Jacques-Louis said.
Jacques-Louis possess the qualities in a player that you can’t coach. He has a drive that you want all your players to have and a work ethic unmatched.
Currently Jacques-Louis holds offers from North Carolina, Central Michigan and UCF.
“I like all the offers I got so far,” Jacques-Louis said. “But I am really wanting an offer from the University of Florida, that’s my favorite school.”
But the University of Florida isn’t the only school Jacques-Louis hopes to get an offer from.
“I’d also like to get an offer from Miami, FAU, Oklahoma and Arkansas,” Jacques-Louis said.
When looking for a school that fits him, Jacques-Louis focuses a lot on academics.
“I want a school that has a good sports trainer program because that’s what I want to be,”Jacques-Louis said. “I also want a school that offers me a tutor, internships and someone to help me out when I need it.”
Jacques-Louis is planning a trip to Tulane in April but also would like to take a visit to the Swamp if possible.
Rocky Jacques-Louis is the brother of ATH Shocky Jacques-Louis who holds 12 offers himself and cousins to Gators CB commit Divaad Wilson.
“I would love it if me and Shocky could play on the same team.” Jacques-Louis said. “We both had always played together but at the end of the day, we could split up if we had too.”
If the Gators can get these brothers on campus it would be big for the program.
I want to thank Jacques-Louis for taking the time to sit down with us. I believe that this player is on his way to realize his dreams. We wish him the best of luck in the recruiting process!
