Today we are doing a player spotlight on the four star wide receiver, Anthony Schwartz, from American Heritage High School. Schwartz just recently landed an offer from the University of Florida and will be taking a trip to the Swamp this weekend.
Let’s take a look at what the Gators might be getting with Schwartz.
Schwartz first started playing football when he was six years old and has loved the sport ever since.
“I’ve been playing football since I was six,” Schwartz said. “My old basketball coach got me to start playing football and I have loved it ever since.”
To say Schwartz has been excelling at football would be a grave understatement. Schwartz currently holds offers from Florida, Miami, Auburn, Wisconsin, Virginia, Oregon and many more power 5 schools.
“I would have to say right now my top five are Florida, Miami, Auburn, Wisconsin and Oregon,” Schwartz said. “But I would still like to get some offers from like FSU, LSU and USC.”
One thing that stands out on tape, is Schwartz speed and game changing ability. Schwartz is definitely a home run threat anytime he touches the ball.
As far as a University goes, Schwartz has a couple of specific things he is looking for in a school.
“I want to make sure wherever I go that they have a good education program,” Schwartz said. “But I also will be interested in developing a relationship with the coaching staff and checking out the teams facilities.”
Schwartz will be able to get a good look at the Gators facilities on his upcoming visit to the Swamp.
“I will be looking at their facilities when I visit,” Schwartz said. “I just took a visit to Miami so I would like to see how the Gators facilities compare to Miami’s.”
Another thing he is going to be looking for on his visit, is how the team connects.
“It’s important to me that the team has chemistry and can connect,”Schwartz said. “I need to know if the team connects or not.”
The Gators have recruited American Heritage High School well this past year adding players like Marco Wilson, James Houston and Tedarrell “T.J.” Slaton.
“I’d feel better about going to Florida knowing that they are there,” Schwartz said.
But football isn’t the only sport Schwartz excels at, he is also great at running track.
“If I couldn’t play football I would probably run track,” Schwartz said.
Schwartz plans on taking an official visit to Florida at some point during the season and is interested in majoring in Accounting. Whoever ends up with Schwartz, will be getting a player who can make something happen with the ball in his hands. His quickness and top end speed, will make him tough to cover at the next level.
We appreciate Schwartz for taking time out of his schedule to speak with us and wish him the best of luck on this process.
