Mike Summers, hired by Will Muschamp, was one of the only coaches Coach McElwain kept on staff when he took over.

However, things haven’t been the best for the Gators O-Line the last couple of years. A lot of that was the dismal play of the O-Line.

Rumors were flying that Coach McElwain was looking to replace Summers this off-season. But today Coach Summers decided to leave the University of Florida to go to Louisville where he has coached before.

This is probably a mutually beneficial move. The Gators will look to add a new coach quickly in hopes to get the O-Line more physical.

The impact of Summers has been felt in recruitment. Summers hasn’t been a great recruiter but did seal the deal with OL Moore this year. Another recruit just cancelled his official visit to Florida following the news.

Thank you for your hard work Coach Summers, we wish you the best of luck!

As to Gator players, this is for the better. We will search for a talented coach who will push you and drive you. This is the University of Florida, we only accept greatness. Don’t let the decision affect your status.

Be apart of the new family that turns the Gators offense back to the glory days. Challenege yourself.
